Platform Through the Streets of New York City in Sideway on PS3 in 2011

In advance of a planned announcement at New York Comic Con (Friday at 2:15 in Room 1A21 if you're going), Playbrains studio director Scott Simpson unveiled Sideway in a post on the PlayStation Blog. Described as "a unique adventure platformer set in and around the oh-so-gritty streets of New York City," Sideway will be a PS3 exclusive when it arrives in 2011, digitally distributed on the PlayStation Network. Along with the logo, the post included three pieces of concept art.

Playbrains has prior experience creating downloadable games with the Steam and Xbox Live Arcade title Madballs in Babo Invasion. Simpson credited a combination of Fuel Industries and W!ldbrain for design of the characters and story in Sideway. The latter is the animation house behind the Emmy nominated animated version of the Ricky Gervais Show on HBO. The former, Fuel Industries, calls themselves "branded entertainment evolved" and their site showcases a number of web marketing case studies. This leads me to wonder what product(s) Sideway will eventually prove to be promoting.
