EA Estimates FIFA Soccer 11 Is "The Fastest Selling Sports Game Ever"
by Alice O'Connor, Oct 05, 2010 7:01am PDTElectronic Arts has declared FIFA Soccer 11, the latest entry in its long-running ball-kicking franchise, to be "the fastest selling sports game ever" after selling through an estimated 2.6 million copies at retail worldwide following its launch last week.
Strutting around like cock of the walk, EA further estimates retail sales of over $150 million and a sell-through rate 29% higher than that of FIFA Soccer 10--which it had previously declared "the fastest-selling sports videogame in the world," back in December 2009.
On top of that, EA states that October 1-2 was "the busiest two-day period for online gaming in EA SPORTS history. Fans registered more than 18.6 million online connected EA SPORTS game sessions overall, including more than 11.3 million of FIFA 11, in that two-day period."
Out in North America on September 28 then Europe on October 1, FIFA 11 was released for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP, PS2, iPhone and iPod Touch.
If you fancy giving FIFA Soccer 11 a kick around, a demo featuring a three-minute exhibition match is currently available on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
