Alien Breed 2: Assault out This Week on PC, XBLA
by Alice O'Connor, Sep 20, 2010 7:31am PDTUpdate: There will indeed be a PS3 release too, though no release date is being given yet.
Original: Team17 Software has announced at remarkably short notice that another instalment of its top-down sci-fi shooter series Alien Breed is on the way, due to be released for download on Steam and Xbox Live Arcade on Wednesday.
Alien Breed 2: Assault promises new weapons, aliens, bosses and set pieces as it continues the story from Alien Breed Evolution and its revamped, expanded PC and PlayStation 3 edition, Alien Breed: Impact. There's also a new 'Survivor' mode with co-op support, which will pit players against hordes of aliens.
There's no word of a PS3 release, though the box art image's filename mentions the PlayStation Network--alien_breed_2_assault_pc_psn_box_art.jpg. Any hypothetical PS3 release would likely follow later, as Impact's PS3 edition only came out in Europe this month and has yet to hit North America. We've contacted Team17 for clarification. [Update: And, of course, the trailer mentions the PS3. Apologies for my short-sightedness]
