Microsoft Announces Five Xbox 360 Exclusive Partnerhips with Japanese Developers
by Brian Leahy, Sep 15, 2010 7:26pm PDTAt Microsoft's press briefing at Tokyo Game Show 2010, the company announced five Xbox 360 exclusive partnerships with Japanese development companies. Overall, details were light, but there are some big developers involved, including Suda-51.
The new games are:
- Spike (Fire Pro Wrestling, Way of the Samurai) - The company will be bringing a version of Fire Pro Wrestling to the Xbox 360, which will support playable avatars.
- Treasure (Ikaruga, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor) - An updated version of the Saturn game Radiant Silvergun to Xbox Live Arcade in Spring 2011. It will feature online co-operative play and updated visuals.
- Masaya Matsuura (Parappa the Rapper) - A Kinect title called Haunt, which appears to be a haunted house game, skewing toward cartoony rather than realistic horror.
- Yukio Futatsugi (Panzer Dragoon, Phantom Dust) - With a new company called Groundings Inc., Futatsugi will bring Project Draco to the Xbox 360 in 2011. The game is a full-body controlled using Kinect and is a dragon-flying game in a style reminiscent of Panzer Dragoon.
- Goichi Suda (No More Heroes, Killer 7) - Simply called Codename D, this game will be a core action title that appeals to hardcore fans. A live action trailer was shown, featuring a guy killing mascots with a flaming baseball. Odd.
