Evening Reading
by Brian Leahy, Sep 08, 2010 5:00pm PDTSimilar to StarCraft II, I've begun publishing multiplayer guides for Halo: Reach, which comes out next week. Are these things you enjoy reading? It's a bit selective as it requires a good amount of proficiency at a game to be able to write a guide, but it's definitely something the Shacknews team can look into producing for new games moving forward... if we happen to be skilled at them.
What other games would you like to see guides written for?

If you enjoy the horror genre, you owe it to yourself to pick this up. I am not far in, but so far it takes everything I loved from the penumbra series, and removes most of what I didn't like. These days games come short on story and atmosphere which makes Amnesia such a refreshing experience. Play it with headphones on and the lights off - I bet you'll be hard pressed to find a better more engrossing horror experience from any game in recent memory.

It angers me that devs such as this are struggling where some of the giants are just lazily releasing the same product based on the same assets with little to no inspiration year after year, all while making ridiculous profits. Sure it's our own fault, unfortunately the overall preferences of the industry's majority consumer are very different from my own and I suspect that is the case for many of us here.
Anyways, pay full price and get great value for a great game, while at the same time supporting a dev for doing things right - win-win.
