No Digital Release for PSP Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
by Brian Leahy, Aug 27, 2010 10:20pm PDTSad news for PSP Go owners looking forward to Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep when it releases on September 7 as Square Enix has "no plans" for a digital release of the game (via Kotaku).
Sony's support of the PSP Go seemed to be on the rise as PlayStation Store updates were moved to Tuesdays, matching retail releases and making day-and-date digital releases a possibility. While digital releases of lower profile games are not always timely, it looked like high-profile titles were safe. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was day-and-date with retail.
Dissidia: Final Fantasy and many of Square's back-catalog titles have been released digitally. It's an odd move not to continue to support digital downloads for the new Kingdom Hearts game, especially after releasing Dissidia for Go users.

Anyway it is my opinion, I am proud about S-E that they arent going into this hole Digital crap. But i would say that releasing PSX titles of games that arent available anymore is fine by me although it lowers the value of th original copy. so yeah i still need to think asbout it . Love you S-E

On consoles (ps3/360) I don't like games that are tied to that one system and difficult to play elsewhere. It makes it hard or even impossible to bring it to someone elses house, lend it to a friend, to rent the game or to sell it used. We have two PS3's in the house and in order to play the same digital download game on either system we either have to buy it twice, or jump through hoops to get it to work. Until it is just as easy to do all those things with a digital download as it is with physical media, I will prefer the disc.
However, for portable devices I don't like having to carry around game discs and even before the PSPgo I started downloading all my titles on my 3000. When they fail to deliver a game digitally on the PSP I will not buy it because I have given up on UMD's for the sake of convenience on a portable device.
