FIFA Soccer 11 Offers Goalie Control on Consoles, 11v11 Online Multiplayer
by Alice O'Connor, Aug 17, 2010 8:25am PDTEA Canada's footy game FIFA Soccer 11 will allow players to take control of the goalkeeper on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, EA has announced during its Gamescom 2010 press conference, enjoying a fifteen-year career purely as goalie if they fancy.
Taking advantage of this, FIFA 11 will let two teams of eleven play a proper game of footy without even leaving the house in its '11 vs. 11 Online Team Play' multiplayer mode, which EA claims is "for the first time in a football videogame."
"Friends can play alongside each other in their pro clubs with all 11 virtual players on the pitch human controlled," executive producer Kaz Makita said in an acccompanying press release, claiming that "We have finally replicated football in the virtual world."
Though the PC version is now using the same 'next gen' engine as the 360 and PS3 edition, EA makes no mention of it too supporting goalkeeper control.
FIFA Soccer 11 is slated for release on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS2, Wii, PSP and DS on September 28 in North America, hitting Europe and Asia on October 1.

Having all 22 players be player-controlled is what they're claiming is a first.
