First 'Brink' Developer Diary Details Story, Conflict

Splash Damage and Bethesda have released the first developer diary video for Brink, the upcoming team-based FPS from the creators of the Enemy Territory series.

On story, Splash Damage didn't want to just make it "hero cops versus evil terrorists" or "heroic freedom fighters versus the evil oppressive forces." Instead, the developers opted for two factions that both have good reasons to fight and are both justified in their actions.

Brink is scheduled for a Spring 2011 release on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. It will be shown off at QuakeCon 2010 later this week.

I loooove the art style. Well, character design mostly as the environments look like your average dystopian-world shooter. I just hope I don't continue to confuse it with Breach and end up buying the wrong game :D

I'm surprised they have released so much about this game this far before release. They did the same thing with Quake Wars and that really seemed to diminish interest in the game by the time it came out.

Splash Damage did a great job with Enemy Territory, sad thing is while I watched the video clip I always was somehow reminded of TF2, I "saw" the heavy, the soldier, the engineer and a spy like character. Come on guys - you have to put in something different, something that makes it stand out!

so i HATE seeing developers talk about their games. it seems so fake and blegh
when they said green, and inconvenient truth, i almost fucking puked
and they made it seem like WOW, you can be bad or bad, choose a side is like some huge game changer

I know this is heresy for a lot of people, but I have little confidence in Splash Damage after they ruined the Wolfenstein franchise with Enemy Territory.

Brink's demo at E3 this year was probably the most disappointing thing there personally. From the XP indicators flying out on a per bullet/pellet for smgs and shotguns, to the almost complete lack of 3rd person demonstration of the SMART system.
Easier navigation through environments is the next big step in FPS's, I guess I am expecting too much for the game that is making the first big step in this direction.
