Mega Man Universe Details Trickle out of Comic-Con
by Brian Leahy, Jul 23, 2010 4:00pm PDTThough no gameplay footage has been released (via Joystiq) for the recently announced Mega Man Universe, some details have been revealed by Capcom's Keiji Inafune at Comic-Con 2010.
The title will most "preserve as much as we can of the classic 8-bit Mega Man feel," explains Infaune. "While allowing players to project their own Mega Man onto the game. We wanted to create a platform where players can play as their favorite version of Mega Man, another Capcom character, or maybe a different character completely. You'll be able to play as the Mega Man of your dreams."
Furthermore, the goofy Mega Man based on the original USA box art -- seen in the video above -- is probably in the game. "We talked about how crappy the original package art was, but there's somebody out there that loves that one and probably wants to play as him."
This is a lot of mystery for an PSN/XBLA game. Hopefully, Capcom will just show us what it is soon.

Okay, that was horrible, but seriously, who thought it was good idea to make a (seemingly) stop-motion claymation teaser? This just solidified my utter dislike of Mega Man, and I have absolutely no interest in this game, or anything correlating to Mega Man.
I actually laughed that was so horrible.
Wow.

The music, however, was awesome. New remixes of the classic themes, melded together nearly seamlessly.

I wonder if this will be like Super Mario Crossover and allow you to play all the old Megaman game levels with different characters, or if instead it'll be a whole new game whose levels are designed around the idea of using any Megaman/many Capcom characters.
Can't wait to hear/see more about this! I've been waiting for a more modern yet classic approach to Megaman. Something new which isn't just making new NES-style Megaman games.
If any company can bring a mascot video game character back to the top of his game like Mega Man it would be Nintendo... But since we don't get them Capcom is the next best thing I think.
