New Mass Effect 2 DLC Revealed: "Lair of the Shadow Broker"
by Brian Leahy, Jul 22, 2010 10:23am PDTBioWare has revealed a new DLC pack for Mass Effect 2: "Lair of the Shadow Broker". In it, Commander Shepard will "team up with Liara [T'Soni] and confront the mysterious and sinister Shadow Broker."
Liara T'Soni was not available as a teammate in Mass Effect 2, but was in the game as an information broker on Illium. She made references to the Shadow Broker and it did feel a bit awkward that it didn't turn into a quest. Now we know why.
No pricing has been revealed and BioWare's only hint as to timing is that the content is "coming soon."

I have not yet bought a DLC, and I will continue to do so, even though it is futile to be the boycotting minority when looking at the MW2-addicts and the sales of the overpriced jokes they call mappacks

Further proof that the points system is retarded.

For example, in ME2 - the item packs were not worth it imo - nor was the exploring the Normandy crash site. Sure it's a nice little idea, but in reality, that experience added nothing to the game.
On the other hand, the two new characters and their loyalty missions, Kasumi and Zaeed- These were great. I particularly enjoyed the Kasumi mission, but think both characters were fantastic. I havent yet played through Overlord, as I am saving it. I am currently playing back through the whole game with the DLC loaded in, and it feels much more robust than the first play-through.
My only complaint is that I wish Kasumi and Zaeed had more value in the game beyond their individual missions. Zaeed is an awesome character imo, I just wish he was more involved going forward.
There's the whole debate about whether or not this content should have been in at release, but to be honest, I think that adding it later gives more incentive to play through it again, adds a little more excitement - the freshness of new content. If they released quality content like the last few packs on an even more regular basis, i would buy it. Other than the first few minor packs, the rest have been great - even when short.

Price the DLC in a frame that I can purchase points for, exactly. Or just charge me plain money, I will buy it. But don't insult me by trying to get me to spend money on virtual 'points'.

Still don't think the idea of DLC into a game as Mass Effect is good however (or ultimately, you'd have to play the game anew when all DLCs would have been published)
