Need for Speed World Skids Past Planned Release, Now Coming July 27

Although it was originally planned for release today, EA has announced its online-only racing experiment Need for Speed World won't go live until next week. The PC-based MMO is now set to cross the finish line on July 27.


Need for Speed World will be available in two flavors: The client, which will be available to download for free, will allow players to access all races and pursuits with a max level progression of 10.

Users who purchase the game's $20 "Starter Pack" will extend the level cap to 50 and net a number of bonuses, including double experience points, driver name reservation and permanent VIP status.Starter packs also include a "bundle assortment of power-ups," an exclusive vehicle, $20 of the game's virtual currency and one-week head-start access beginning today.
