Street Fighter 4 Producer to Announce New Game at Comic-Con
by Brian Leahy, Jul 12, 2010 10:40am PDTStreet Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono has been quiet since the release of Super back in April, but that is about to change. Ono is set to appear at and announce his new title at a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 24.
The official description for the panel is limited to the Street Fighter franchise, but it is strongly rumored to be a new Darkstalkers game. Ono hinted this in an interview with Shacknews back during GDC in March, when responding to a question about what his dream project would be.
As far as a dream project is concerned, there is another fighting game series established shortly after I started at Capcom. A little something called Darkstalkers. If I was given the resources and permission to do so, I'd love to make a new Darkstalkers.
It is also possible that Ono could be referring to a PC version of Super Street Fighter IV. Now that an arcade release is being developed, a PC version would be easy to produce given that the arcade board is a glorified Windows XP computer. Recently, Ono has been on Twitter dropping hints left and right about his next project, which has been approved by Capcom.
Last night, before the Super Street Fighter IV finals at Evolution 2010, Tekken 6 executive producer Katsuhiro Harada attempted to goad Ono into revealing his new project. Ono, sadly, denied the crowd of thousands and asked them to wait until Comic-Con.
