PopCap's addictive Plants vs. Zombies mixed adorable songs and tower defense elements to become a casual game sensation but has kept relatively quiet since its May 2009 release. Today, PopCap delivered an image of a zombified hand coming out of the ground asking us to "save the date" of August 2, 2010. Initial speculation is PopCap is poised to announce a sequel to the popular casual title; however, we'd be just as happy to get another catchy tune.

Hell yeah, put 70 hours into PvZ and passed it like 5 times just messing around with different plants each time trying to see if I can survive with only certain type of plants. An incredible game for sure. Can't wait.

Was kind of hoping for some expanded scenarios for the original as opposed to a sequel. A "shopping mall" or "deserted island" episode, etc. Yard/pool/roof, day/night left a little bit to be desired.

Regardless, I'll be getting this on day one...

PvZ was the surprise hit of 2009 for sure. I was a skeptic, but was blown away by how great the game was after buying it and spending a few hours playing.
