Monster Hunter Frontier Online, Xbox 360 Hardware Sales See Significant Decline in Japan
by Garnett Lee, Jul 09, 2010 2:40pm PDTLast week, the Xbox 360 saw an 800% increase in hardware sales in Japan; however, this week Microsoft's home console have seen a substantial drop in sales, according to data released by Media Create (Translated). For the period of June 21 to 27, the Xbox 360 sold 17,370 units in the Land of the Rising Sun versus 7,303 units for the period of June 28 to July 4. Also plummeting from the sales charts was Capcom's Monster Hunter Frontier Online, which fell from its first place spot the week ending June 27 to fourteenth this week.
While new hardware often triggers an upsurge in sales (such as Microsoft's new Xbox 360 "S Model") data suggests the 800% accession was largely due to the strong sales of the Monster Hunter MMO PC-port. In its first week, Monster Hunter Frontier Online sold 97,807 units in the region.
