Looks great! Life in the 50's must of be interesting in NYC... Why can't we have this world anymore, why are the cities now overrun by Ghetto's? Sad Sad Sad

Yeah...that would be recession and the Bush administration. At the risk of "oversimplifying" the situation
The working poor, called the middle class ~ destroyed in the USA.
Believe it or not the 50's where better cause a man could work and sustain his family. Takes 100 people now working to buy groceries in one family or a very good job that clocks 150 g's a year...maybe.-
The housing bubble collapsed because of Democrats, who were the Senate majority during the last 4 years of the Bush administration (you know, when the job-approval ratings for both nosedived). So I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. I guess you can say Bush and the Republicans didn't do enough to prevent Dems from fucking everything up, but that does not support your argument.
Furthermore, three of the biggest welfare Democrat-run states (CA, NJ, NY) are essentially bankrupt because of special interest groups and the insane taxation of anyone not of poverty level.
The thing that made the 40's and 50's so great was Capitalism.-
Actually per capita the worse offenders are rurals areas when it comes to welfare.
Greenspan messed up and destabilized our housing by lying to us and making us believe we all had dough in our homes. That's why caused the housing bubble to burst.
You have 75 year old's trying to work now, cause they've been robbed and it wasn't just Democrats, it was whomever was sitting in power at the time and this is a Republican, Hispanic (whatever that means) telling you this.
I am an American first and foremost. Even though half of American hates my guts simply cause I'm different than them.
Here's a link for a good place for statistics:

The 40's and 50's where a good time in this country, hardships no doubt, but better in a simpler way. However, I realize the only way I would have enjoyed it, is if I was cleaning toilets.
Capitalism is not a proper way of life. Where 1% of a the population keep all the wealth and the rest of us are indentured slaves. American used to be industrious, hard working folk. Isolationist also (and to some degree this helped).
We used to admire the rich, gave us something to aspire to. Now the poor and the working poor hate the rich. No one believes in our governmental institutions and our way of life is in danger. We can fix, but it will take some radical thinking and some real hard work.
