Sony Considering More 'HD Conversions'
by Alice O'Connor, Jun 28, 2010 7:00am PDTSony is looking into creating more "HD conversions" of older titles in the same vein as 2009's God of War Collection and the upcoming Sly Collection, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has told IGN.
"Santa Monica Studios had the brilliant idea to upgrade and improve God of War for PS3 with the God of War Collection that we released last year," said Yoshida. "There were a lot of positive reactions from consumers in doing that, and now we get a lot of suggestions for types of packs they'd like to see," he explained, adding that "we are looking to continue to do these HD conversions."
As to the question of whether PlayStation 2 titles will be released for download via the PlayStation Network, Yoshida deflected "We are looking into ways how we can deliver the PS2 library to PS3 consumers, but were are not ready to announce anything yet."

That game was the shiz.
ICO and SotC are a perfect example of that IMO. They just look great the way they were.. Even SotC's low framerate added to the cinematic experience..
Maybe I'm just one of those nostalgia addict. :(
Who the fuck am I fooling, if they release Ico/SotC in HD i'll totally buy them on day one.

On reading this, I pictured a giant roulette wheel with the following sector labels: HD conversion, sequel, spiritual successor, noscon, retcon, MMO conversion, FPS conversion, third-person action-adventure conversion, isometric hack-and-slash RPG conversion, Rogue-like conversion, MMMORARGVG.
If Sly does well, expect the floodgates to open. Imo, they'd make more money if they released these individually and/or as bundles on the PSN and Xbox Live, respectively. I'd be VERY surprised if Microsoft didn't have their new 343 Guilty Sparks factory for halo's already working on a Halo Collection...
