Ooh it's a tricky substance, that sand. One moment it's lying innocuously on the beaches of Dubai then the next, it's whipped up into "the most devastating sandstorm ever recorded" and turns the posh holiday resort into an island of "blasted opulence." Such is the world of Yager's squad-based shooter Spec Ops: The Line.

Spec Ops: The Line boasts the unique selling point of "Dynamic Sand," meaning players can "turn the tables on foes by crushing them under a cascade of sand cast down by a strategically placed shot" but also must face sandstorms with gale-force winds. Publisher 2K Games warns that "sand has no loyalty"--words to live by.

Spec Ops: The Line is headed to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011.

Of course it has no loyalty. Sand is course and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere. It's not warm and soft.

We used to lie out on the sand and let the sun dry us and try to guess the names of the birds singing.

My god...did you just quote Attack of the Clones? ...and something from the worst love story in the history of cinema, to boot... I hope you were making some sort of joke.
