If this isn't the stringed guitar, and thus just another plastic controller... why the frak is it $150?

Here is a question I am currently not up on my RB3 news but is the ION drum rock or even the old RB2 drum set completely compatible with RB3?
I have the ION drum rocker fully loaded with the three cymbals all ready so basically all I will need is RB3 and I am good to go?
