NIER DLC Due This Week [Updated]
by Chris Faylor, May 10, 2010 11:40am PDTThe first downloadable add-on for Cavia's action-RPG NIER will be available in Europe on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this week, publisher Square Enix has announced.
Dubbed "The World of Recycled Vessel," the download sees "the pages of a diary open a gate to a strange world that mixes past and present," meaning that those who opt to shell out for the add-on will be able to:
Play as young Nier, conquer 15 difficult challenge levels to unlock two sets of alternate costumes for Nier, Emil and Kaine, three powerful weapons that only a "Fool" would miss out on, enjoy new music unique to The World of Recycled Vessel and a bonus quest that challenges you to destroy your woolliest adversaries!
Priced at 560 Microsoft Points / €6.99 / $6.99, "The World of Recycled Vessel" DLC is due to hit Europe in Xbox 360 form on Tuesday, May 11, followed on PlayStation 3 come Wednesday, May 12. North American release details have yet to be confirmed, though such add-on content often hits multiple territories at the same time and price.
[Update - 3:15pm CST] Square has now confirmed that the "Recycled Vessel" downloadable content for NIER will hit North America on Tuesday, May 11.

As for the DLC, I'll have to see how I feel when I've finished the game. I'm only about 20 hours in. Playing as the "young Nier" doesn't really appeal to me, as it seems an important part of the character that he's a middle-aged dad.
