Remedy Entertainment's upcoming action-thriller Alan Wake is getting a series of live-action prequel trailers to tease the game's May 18 release.

Ironically named "Bright Falls", the six-part series of short films will set up events preceding Alan Wake's story, focusing on a scruffy journalist named Jake. The brief trailer below teases the Philip Van-directed shorts, which betray a very Twin Peaks-esque style and score, and feature shadowy small town folks leering at the camera.

The press release further plays up the game's similarities with the David Lynch's TV series, noting that "TV fans will find that the series evokes the same ghostly chills as 'Twin Peaks' did when it premiered 20 years ago this month."

The first two episodes of "Bright Falls" will be available exclusively to Xbox LIVE Gold members beginning on April 25, but will also become available to all Xbox LIVE members the following day. On April 27, the episodes will also be available on the BrightFalls.com website. A new episode will come out each week until the series' two-part conclusion on May 17.

Alan Wake comes out exclusively for the Xbox 360 on May 14 in Europe, May 18 in the Americas, and May 27 in Japan.

Damn, I thought it said "BEERFEST".

They should have a character in the film say that.
