Capcom Announces Three: Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Okamiden and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2

By Garnett Lee, Apr 20, 2010 8:10am PDT At its annual Captivate media summit, publisher and developer Capcom confirmed three games--two new, one previously known--for Europe and North America:

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds
Leading the trio is the long awaited Marvel vs. Capcom 3, a full-fledged disc-based sequel due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the spring of 2011. Riding the resurgence of interest in 2D fighting games behind the success of Street Fighter 4, the new game will take a similar approach to making a modern update of a classic. Its roster will include a selection of returning fighters from the series and new characters both Marvel and Capcom have created over the years since the last game came out. Revealed last year for Japan and playable at the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom's second announcement confirmed Okamiden will be released worldwide. This full sequel to Okami--originally released on PlayStation 2 and later ported to Wii--is being developed for the Nintendo DS. Though no more specific release date than 2011 was given, a playable demo version of the game in English was on-hand. Our upcoming Okamiden preview includes hands-on impressions with it as well as additional details.

Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
The third, and final, announcement came in the form of a trailer: Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, headed to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as a digital download in the first quarter of 2011. Development is being handled by Fatshark, a studio formed by veterans of GRIN who helped craft the first Bionic Command Rearmed. As such, it looks like the new game picks right back up without missing a beat. While there was little more information the trailer does reveal that the star of the game, Nathan Spencer, now has the ability to jump to go along with his grapple gymnastics. There will also be new attacks and enhancements for his bionic arm. From the look of the screenshots it seems likely the game will be playable at E3. Until then, the trailer will have to suffice.
