Evening Reading: FPS Fever!
by Brian Leahy, Apr 14, 2010 5:00pm PDTThis morning, Take-Two announced that 2K Marin is developing an FPS game based upon X-COM. The outrage was palpable.
I'm willing to give 2K Marin a chance here. I'm sure this is a move meant to echo Bethesda's work with the Fallout franchise, which led to the creation of Fallout 3.
Personally, I'm a much bigger fan of Todd Howard and Bethesda's work than 2K Marin's, but we'll see what the studio can cook up.

I mean, the messages are useful (the bloodstains are not, at least I've found no use for them as of yet), but it seems to me that unless you're incredibly non-observant, many of the enemies seem to have immediately noticeable attack patterns and weaknesses.
I'm also finding the game to be relatively easy even though people have claimed the difficulty to be immense (I think I died only twice up to the first boss Vanguard slime blob thing). The combat mechanics are definitely exploitable to a large degree and I've been doing so at every opportunity (which is often), though I now wonder if this might be what's causing the game to be relatively easy.
