Evening Reading: FPS Fever!
by Brian Leahy, Apr 14, 2010 5:00pm PDTThis morning, Take-Two announced that 2K Marin is developing an FPS game based upon X-COM. The outrage was palpable.
I'm willing to give 2K Marin a chance here. I'm sure this is a move meant to echo Bethesda's work with the Fallout franchise, which led to the creation of Fallout 3.
Personally, I'm a much bigger fan of Todd Howard and Bethesda's work than 2K Marin's, but we'll see what the studio can cook up.

Partnering up with the local computer shop here, I went around to both Fred Meyers and our Walmart, and acquired every boxed copy of Torchlight in town (107 copies). Those 107 copies were given away free to the first 107 customers at said computer shop.
I plan to do the same for Grim Dawn, but just how remains to be seen as it might be digital only.

1) Drop the "I just felt like telling you guys" BS. A lot of posts here are fundamentally vain in nature. That's fine, we're fundamentally vain creatures. Vanity can be interesting. Admit it and move on.
2) Until very recently you'd never held a job and never paid income tax. The totality of your earnings came from under the table jobs. Now you're employed writing blurbs for a newspaper whose readership can't surpass 10,000, and presumably not making much more than you would standing on the street and holding up a sign saying CALLOUSED HANDS $3 JERK-OFFS. And you've got the spare cash to blow 1k donating video games to people?
3) you're having a kid. you're doing squat-toilets remodels on your apartment. Whatever income you are making from the blurb job, how can you have this kind of additional disposable cash?
It just doesn't add up.
