Evening Reading: Freemium Games on PC

Today saw the launch of Electronic Arts' Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online, a free-to-play, browser-based version of its popular golf franchise.

The free content only lasts so long, however, as money becomes necessary to experience additional content. That being said, players can have a good amount of fun without spending a dime.

I thought about Faylor's great post about the future of PC gaming from PAX East 2010 and the notion that PC gaming, while not dead, is changing.

Would you rather have a $60 full-version of Tiger Woods for the PC or something you could play for free and purchase more content at a micro-transaction level? I'm not sure I know where I fall for more traditional games.
