Bohemia's standalone military shooter expansion "ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead" is due out in the near future, so to get the ball rolling, the developer has issued forth the first trailer. This one introduces the Blufor, a faction consisting of the U.S. and its allies.

Packing new environments, factions, weapons and vehicles while also serving as a sequel to the events of ARMA 2, Operation Arrowhead is slated to hit PC in Q2 2010.

Compared to when? In ye olde 2004 days, there were a handful of people playing missions we didn't design, at fairly irregular times, with little coordination/TS usage. Compare that to today when we have ~150 members, get turnouts in the 50-70 player range, play exclusively in-house developed content, and operate as a cohesive platoon using the tactics etc written here: http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com

It's been years of gaming and community building to get to where we are now. Four years of ShackTac itself (founded Jan of 2006), plus around two years of general OFP Shackbattles before that. What we have now is many orders of magnitude more interesting and fun than what we had in the past. It's more serious than before in some respects, but there is a huge amount of fun involved and we are far, far from being milsim humorless people. As far as how my site presents it, the intent is to discourage flavor-of-the-week/casual players, as our intent as a group goes beyond what those types of players allow us to achieve as a community.
