First Screens of Relic's Warhammer 40K: Space Marine

Developer Relic will be returning to consoles with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, a third-person action-RPG set in Games Workshop's 40K universe. Publisher THQ has released the first two screenshots for the game.

Sign me up for shooting and chainswording Orks, please. If you want more Warhammer 40,000, look to Relic's expansion back for Dawn of War II, Chaos Rising, releasing on March 11, 2010. Also, Vigil Games (Darksiders) is currently working on an unrevealed Warhammer 40,000 MMORPG for THQ.

As a PC only gamer, this is the first console only game that actually hurts me. Badly.

Until I get my basement finished and entertainment room set up with a nice wide screen HD TV I just can't get the same immersion experience my PC gives me with games. So I've never been too interested in playing console stuff. Oh well, it will have to wait a few years.

It's a good time to be a WH40k fan. We are getting a CGI Movie, a new expansion for DOW2, an MMO, and this. Unless they all suck the only way they could top it off is if they add coop multiplayer for this and Space Hulk mod for Chaos Rising.

I have no idea what to expect from this game. The developers are most likely going to try and target the "younger" gamers with this to try and introduce the 40k universe to a bigger audience (also by "young" I mean that they haven't been playing for long, not that they are young agewise) so this could either be amazing, or a big let down.

would be far more appropriate if they were using an actual independent character from the tabletop game / SM codex like a Chaplain or Librarian rather than a vanilla marine.

like the C&C Renegade comparison earlier, only they're using an infantry grunt instead of a commando.

Looks interesting but I kinda wish they had gone in the same direction as EA did with C&C Renegade's multiplayer by using the RTS versions of Warhammer 40k and bringing it to a FPS pespective.
