More Duke Nukem Forever Footage Leaks?
by Chris Faylor, Feb 01, 2010 1:30pm PSTAs 3D Realms and Take-Two continue to duke it out in court, it seems that even more Duke Nukem Forever footage has somehow made its way to the internet, apparently starting out on YouTube before moving on to PCGames.de and ending up here.
But before we get to the video, a cautionary word. The following is not an official trailer. It contains footage from a variety of sources, including the debut trailer from 1998 at one point. As for the Gearbox logo at the beginning, it's anyone's guess. As far as we know, Gearbox wasn't / isn't involved with Duke Nukem Forever, but was readying an all new-entry, Duke Begins, that has since been halted but not canceled.
As before, the fate of the notoriously long-awaited shooter is dependent upon the ongoing court case. 3D Realms has repeatedly stated that development is continuing, despite having laid off most of the team due to financial issues. The company has further teased that "the next few years should see a strong resurgence in Duke" with "numerous other Duke games in various stages of development." Thanks for the tips, all.

The amount of hype surrounding the Duke franchise plus the epic legacy means that whatever anyone produces will just feel sub-par.
Schwarzenegger had his day, Stallone had his day...Duke has had his day. Let him die a dignified death.

I will miss Duke and I do (wishful thinking) hope a more responsible developer picks it up, even if it's EA (They DO get things DONE). It's a shame that 3DR never had the guts to commit, or maybe they had a commitment phobia, or perhaps didn't trust in their work as much as they said they did.
But i really thought that looked poor, perhaps i need an HD video (although I think it might just look worse). But it just did not look modern. it screamed of 2005/6. The explosion, blood, physics really looked old school.
I just did not feel it.
I've always thought that this game has to be great, maybe not from a graphics point (or technology). But from a gameplay, map, story point of view. Just because, it's been worked on for 10 years, they would have been refining the gameplay and the map structures and the story so much. It would eventually be great (i'm in a hurry so didn't word this brilliantly :P).
Thoughts?
