Continuing to revisit its classic franchises, SEGA today confirmed that AM2's arcade sequel After Burner Climax is coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as a digital download.

That's the good news. The better news? It's got one seriously awesome rainbow. No joke!

After Burner Climax will be available through the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace sometime during the spring, with no word yet on pricing. In related news, SEGA noted that Planet Moon's 2007 release, After Burner: Black Falcon PSP, will make its downloadable online marketplace debut in the PlayStation Store February 4.

    YESSSS!

I've been waiting for such news since seeing the teaser trailers. Then, this past October, I went down to some Disney properties for a tournament, and lo and behold they had an AB Climax machine in my hotel's arcade.

It was sweet, sweet classic goodness mixed in with modern production values. A nostalgic fanboy's dream!

Now I just gotta figure out what platform to get it for, and how to get our living room to pitch and roll in time with the game :D
