Battlefield: BC2 'Squad Rush' MP Mode Limited to GameStop Pre-Orders in North America
by Chris Faylor, Jan 25, 2010 9:36am PSTNorth American residents who purchase either the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 editions of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will have to jump through some hoops to play the Squad Rush multiplayer mode within the first thirty days of the game's release.
Developer DICE confirmed today that, for those thirty days following March 2, the only console players in North America that will be able to select the four-versus-four Squad Rush mode will be those that pre-order the shooter from retailer GameStop.
Army of Two: The 40th Day--also published by EA--similarly restricted one multiplayer mode to pre-orderers only for the first thirty days, though this was not retailer-dependent.
Fortunately, anyone with access to Squad Rush will be able to invite their friends (even if they didn't pre-order) into the mode, with those that either buy the PC version or reside outside of North America getting access to Squad Rush at launch at no extra cost.

This might seem harsh, but it doesn't affect so I don't give a shit! (It's just a game afterall)
I guess I'll be waiting at least 30 days to pick this up.
(Maybe a lot longer.)
Paying MMO subscription fees for games that aren't even finished (We'll patch it later, honest!)
Paying for a game before it's even out (We're only making 12 million copies of MW2, you better reserve it!)
Getting nickel and dimed for bullshit they could have put in the game to begin with (cheat codes, outfits, whatever)
Paying for "beta" (read:demo) access
Exclusive pre-order bonuses
It's just so shady now.
