Heavy Rain Release Date Confirmed

One of the final mysteries regarding Quantic Dreams' Heavy Rain have been resolved, with publisher Sony today announcing release dates for North America and Europe.

The PlayStation 3 adventure game hits North America on February 23, as revealed on the PlayStation.Blog, with Europe's PlayStation.Blog specifying a mainland European release for February 24, followed in the UK and Ireland on February 26.

In addition to what's on the disc, developer Quantic is also planning a series of $4.99 downloadable 'Chronicles' episodes that further flesh out its main characters, with those that pre-order Heavy Rain from select shops getting the first one for free.

I just beat Indigo Prophecy last week. I actually like the "Quicktime" events for the most part. Some were very intense using the M + keyboard.

Wow, that's a lot earlier than I expected for some reason. I doubt I'll be done with my current backlog of holiday games by then, and then a week or two later Bad Company comes out, followed shortly by God of War 3. This one will probably have to be put on hold.

I was excited about this game for a long time, until I found out that the gameplay basically boils down to limited choose your own adventure interractive movie type stuff :(

Lame. Around the interbutts (mainly Qore), there was a general consensus that the game was gonna be released on the 16th of February. It's only a week difference, but I recently got hyped for this game after replaying Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy. At least there's Mass Effect 2 and Star Ocean: The Last Hope International to keep me held over.
