Zero Gear Pre-Orders Open With Discount, Beta Access
by Alice O'Connor, Jan 05, 2010 7:00am PSTIndie developer NimbleBit has announced its "dyn-o-mite!!!" PC kart racer Zero Gear will arrive on January 12, with pre-orders granting a 25% discount and instant beta access.
Zero Gear can pre-ordered for $14.99 through Steam or direct from NimbleBit--who give a key to activate on Steam--or in a $30 four-pack available only from NimbleBit.
Zero Gear packs racing, tag and sports modes among others with up to eight players and kooky customisation--not forgetting an excellent "indie-ness" slider to add pixelation.

netcode killed me though. At first, a little lag meant you dropped through the game world into the nethervoid, before teleporting back onto the track somewhere. They fixed that I think, but last time I tried, lag meant that my control was screwed. That is to say, if I was turning and lag hit, my character would continue turning (even after I released the turn button) and I'd slam into a wall somewhere.
I'm not sure what a game should do when communications are interrupted for a second or two. Maybe that just shouldn't happen (it's an easy fix right?)
I did enjoy the game when ping was fine. Just wish the weapons were more.. something
