Sims 3 Named 'Most Animal-Friendly Game 2009' by PETA

As Gamasutra spotted, the Sims 3 won a 'Proggy' as the 'Most Animal Friendly Game of 2009' from animal rights activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The awards, so named to reflect "progress", recognize animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture states a PETA press release.

The Sims 3 won for its positive portrayal of the vegetarian lifestyle in the game. Along with a number of meatless food options like tofu dogs and veggie burgers, vegetarian Sims can get sick from being accidentally fed meat. PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman complimented publisher Electronic Arts for its compassion and specifically of the game said, "Players might be encouraged to give animals a break and stop eating them."

By and large, it seems like the crowd here is comprised of a bunch of mentally challenged, callous pricks. No surprise though, as none but the most naive of individuals would expect even a modicum of kindness and ecological awareness from mere "gamers". As for PETA, I'm tired of their moronic publicity stunts (such as this one), and although their hearts can often be in the right place, they're obviously in need of better management, and some policy change.

I put my baby locked up in a bedroom (removed door) so nobody could come in and feed it or chance its diapers for days. I thought it was gonna die, but child services took it away because my maid snitched on me.

I did manage to kill my wife to be single that way though. Cool game.

This is just the funniest/dumbest thing I have read on shack in years, I'm a meat cutter and I don't so call enjoy cutting animals up .. But who doesn't love a good tasty steak or roast... Its funny this day an age you can buy product that is meatless.. but they still call it beef burgers or chicken but they just toss on meatless on the label. PETA I make the finest steaks and roast around and I beat you would enjoy it if i called it meatless...

This coming from the largest hypocrites in the world who kill over 90% of the animals they "rescue" and dump in a garbage bin in order to keep the money donated to them.

Oh and one of the reasons is that they believe that all domesticated animals are inferior to wild animals and wouldnt survive in PETA's perfect world of no humans and overpopulated wild animals
