Heavy Rain Preorders Get First 'Chronicles' DLC Free

If you're intending to get Heavy Rain when it comes out in February Sony just gave you a pretty good reason to preorder a copy. By putting your money down you'll get the first Heavy Rain Chronicle episode, "The Taxidermist," for free. For pre-orders only this content will be available on launch day. If you wait to buy it both the first and second Chronicles will be available on an unspecified date after release but then each will set you back the regular $4.99 price.

The Chronicles are short side stories for the main characters in Heavy Rain. Each one shows what they were up to before or after the time of the main story to provide a little extra depth to their personality. Here's the description Sony offered for "The Taxidermist":

Heavy Rain: Chronicle One -- The Taxidermist will feature investigative journalist Madison Paige in one of her first cases tracking down a serial killer. Most of you are familiar with this episode as it is an expansion and update to the original 'Taxidermist' demo that received such positive response when shown last year.

If you're in the U.S. you need to preorder at Amazon, GameCrazy, or GameStop (online or in-store) to qualify for the freebie. Canadians can get in on it at Amazon.ca, BestBuy.ca, EB Games, and FutureShop.ca.
