Doling out some season savings in a festive nightcap, Amazon.com has slashed the prices on five downloadable Ubisoft-published PC games to $5 each, including the "Fortune's Edition" of open-world FPS Far Cry 2, which includes the "Fortune's Pack" add-on.

I keep getting an error after the game has been downloaded, which I'm guessing is used to communicate with Amazon to tell it has finished downloading on said computer. I can't get me cd-key now, but I have the game downloaded and installed, and updated. On My games directory, it says "Please complete a Download to view keys".....

Anyone else having this issue? I'm using Firefox as my default browser, wonder if that has anything to do with it. Maybe Amazon doesn't play nice with it just yet. Also, using Win7...

Is the Far Cry 2 DLC worth $5? I have a copy of FC2 that came with a graphics card that I really want to get to at some point soon, but if the DLC is worth anything I might just pick this up anyway.

Does the regular Far Cry 2 have a disc check? That would also be worth close to $5 not to have to stick a disc in all the time (or find a shady crack)...

ive said it before, and ill say it again: amazon is going to be the competitor that gives steam a run for its money. theyve been testing the digital download waters with casual games for a while, and now theyre expanding into "real" games. yes, i know, we all care about what steam has to offer, but i suspect most of the world doesnt. amazon is a huge, well-known brand, and when theyre ready theyre going to go after this market space in a big way. i wouldnt be surprised at all to see amazon outselling valve inside of two years.

Rats, I still have no idea if Far Cry 2 will run well on this computer. Best case scenario, it'll run on low/medium settings. Worst case, I'm out $5 on a game I can't return.

Never bought a downloadable game off Amazon (or anything really)...does it require any software to run after it's installed, such as steam? Or does it install like an ordinary retail game?
