Try RA3 if you're a fan of the franchise. Unlike C&C3, that game was pretty good, probably because EA learned from their mistakes.
But I don't know if you'll like this because it seems like they're deliberately going away from the classic C&C gameplay and into some kind of a Dawn of War 2-ish RPG-RTS hybrid thing. Which is a good thing for me, because I loved DoW2. But it definitely won't have the same gameplay style as the previous C&C games.-

RA3 was abyssmal compared to RA2. RA1 was great, but RA2 was better than RA1. RA3 is too fast paced, the horrible outlines around every unit, how zoomed in everything is in comparison to RA2. The overall feel of the game changed. RA3 ruined the series, and I knew that EA would fuck it up once they got their claws on Westwood. RIP. Generals was pretty good, but from there, everything was downhill...cliffhanger style.

What? Are you kidding me? They ruined the game with...fast pace and selection outlines? The former is a good thing, the latter just doesn't make sense.
But the things that actually make RA RA are there, the cheesy B-movie atmosphere, the outlandish over-the-top units, the FMVs. But then it actually plays better than RA2 too, because it's just balanced much better, not that far from Starcraft levels of balance.
It's stupid to like RA2 and hate RA3. Unless somehow the camera elevation determines your opinion of an RTS by itself.
