Nintendo Hosting Super Mario Parties at Senior Communities
by Jeff Mattas, Dec 09, 2009 3:30am PSTNintendo has recently launched a rather heart-warming campaign to bring generations together around the Wii this holiday season. Representatives from Nintendo began visiting ten different Erickson and Leisure Care Communities on December 4th to introduce its growing crop of Wii-playing seniors and their family members to New Super Mario Bros. Wii in an effort to "encourage every generation to sample the game's unique blend of imaginative, multiplayer fun."
Special Nintendo gift packages were also shipped to an additional 42 retirement communities which Nintendo hopes will "incorporate video games into their regular activities." It's not the first time that Nintendo has launched this type of promotional effort, and games like Wii Sports have already met with a positive reception among many seniors.
Each participating community receives one Wii console, a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, 3 additional Wii Remotes and Nunchuks, a copy of Wii Sports Resort with 3 additional MotionPlus accessories, Wii Fit, a Wii Balance Board, Mario Kart Wii, and 3 extra Wii Wheels. Wheeee!
I personally can't imagine that my own grandmother would be very interested in something like this, but I'd love to see a similar type of hands-on promotional effort employed by other publishers and other systems. Granny Theft Auto, anyone?

lot's of new faces names around here these days it seems. Or I just ignored them until now.
It might not be something that they're all into, but at least it's a chance to do something a little different.
