Special Nintendo gift packages were also shipped to an additional 42 retirement communities which Nintendo hopes will "incorporate video games into their regular activities." It's not the first time that Nintendo has launched this type of promotional effort, and games like Wii Sports have already met with a positive reception among many seniors.
Each participating community receives one Wii console, a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, 3 additional Wii Remotes and Nunchuks, a copy of Wii Sports Resort with 3 additional MotionPlus accessories, Wii Fit, a Wii Balance Board, Mario Kart Wii, and 3 extra Wii Wheels. Wheeee!
I personally can't imagine that my own grandmother would be very interested in something like this, but I'd love to see a similar type of hands-on promotional effort employed by other publishers and other systems. Granny Theft Auto, anyone?
