Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising PC Demo Lands
by Alice O'Connor, Nov 18, 2009 6:10pm PSTThe first mission of Codemasters' tactical shooter Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising can now be sampled and assessed on PC with a 1.39GB demo from FileShack.
Charging players with entering enemy territory to pave the way for a larger force by disabling a radar station and missile sites, the mission 'Dragon Rising' can be played in either singleplayer or co-op. You can also experience "turning it right up to 11" with Hardcore mode, where the HUD is turned off to leave you at the mercy of your senses.
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was released for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in October. New multiplayer maps and co-op missions arrived this month as downloadable content, accompanied by a title update. A second update is en route.

Of course, some of those issues (no rejoin once an online game has started) I didn't encounter - I can imagine this would be very frustrating. The minute-to-minute combat was quite good, though.
AI can't drive, though what's new : )
1.) The game has you run around...a LOT. At the end of the game it said we traveled 60 km on foot. Keep in mind that most of this time isn't spent under fire, but literally running quietly from one point to the next.
2.) No join after start, which means if your internet flips out or something goes awry you cannot rejoin the match or your friends.
3.) Practically no vehicles. I think we got into jeeps in 3 of the 11 missions. Frankly, vehicles are utter death traps in this game. Impossible to drive and they are instantly targeted by the enemy. Back on foot!
The game had 2 or 3 really solid, intense missions. Then a lot of boredom and running. I highly recommend you try the demo first.
