Left 4 Dead 2 PC Now Pre-Loading on Steam

by Chris Faylor, Nov 09, 2009 8:48am PST

Valve has begun pre-loading Left 4 Dead 2 PC via Steam, allowing pre-purchasers to download 6.1GB of the zombie shooter sequel before its November 17 release.

To begin the process, right-click on Left 4 Dead 2 in Steam's "My games" tab, select "View pre-load info..." and follow the steps. Once the download is complete, Valve promises that "when the game is officially released, you'll be able to play it immediately."

Thanks to Dion for the heads up.

  • Meh. It's alright.
The guns look weird, for lack of a better term, something is up the with recoil. It also sucks that you cannot see your legs from a POV perspective. Honestly I felt that helped the immersion of the first game. Meh.

Usually I'm not that picky, but the colorful bright atmosphere is kind of weird for a zombie game. Though, the demo did seem a bit interesting with the new infected, but as a whole it felt a lot less polished than the first game.

I never hopped on the boycott wagon, but I might be passing for a little while for a sale or something.

  • Meh, I tried the demo and honestly couldn't get into it. The game seems to lack any kind of unifying style, as in it's far too colourful and has lost any semblance of the b-horror movie feel the first L4D had.

The graphics actually look worse to me for some reason, and the whole slaying zombies in the broad daylight in a tourist resort thing doesn't sit right with me. I'm not entirely sure but the fov felt decreased as well, though that may just be the gun models being so fucking close to what would be the players face this time around.

The new enemies just feel annoying at best, and the new items and weapons just seem pointless as if they were added in right at the end in an attempt to introduce some variety. I know I've only played one level though, so who knows what the full game will bring.

In conclusion, it feels like a less solid version of L4D1 :-(
