Contest: Mercenary Wars Beta Key Giveaway
by Jeff Mattas, Nov 03, 2009 4:50pm PSTOnline games publisher Uforia just gave us 500 closed beta codes for their upcoming modern warfare FPS Mercenary Wars, making this week as good a time as any to see how things are shaping up. The beta is live, and runs through November 5 at 5PM PST.
The latest version of the beta includes 3 new weapons, a new map, and a new Free-for-all mode that eschews team-based play in lieu of shooting anything that moves. To sweeten the deal, killing other players will earn you raffle tickets for the "Death(adder) to your Enemies" contest. The random winner gets a Razer DeathAdder Mouse.
You can download the game client from FileShack. Just make sure that you're logged in so we can email your beta code when you start grabbing the file. For a glimpse of the game and its guns-for-hire take on global economics, see below:

So far when Free FPS games quality goes, Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory is almost only good one.

Just because you learn how to program does not mean you should launch a game to the whole world. This looks like one guy / girl sat down in his / her basement for about 2 months straight, and developed this...Just FYI to the developer, if you are not going to make a game that has nothing new to it then it's not worth developing...I can go play Counter-Strike 1.6 and get the same feel.
