Shack PSA: Champions Online Free to Play This Weekend

Cryptic's superhero MMO Champions Online will be opened to the public this weekend, with the company allowing anyone to create a free account and log on to enjoy the new Blood Moon Halloween event.

The promotion will run Friday through Sunday. Those interested can sign up for an account at the official site.

I kept waiting for someone to defend this game in the comments. Seriously, I was going to try the free trial but if there is no one Shacknews saying "You're an idiot this game is awesome!" then it really must be entirely without worth.

There is something lifeless to the game. Can't put my finger on it. It feels like a generic MMO construction set that someone used to make a superheroes game. I want to like it, but I played to around 24 and kind of just... stopped. It bothers me that I can't enjoy it more.
