Earthworm Jim Revamp Hits iPhone & iPod Touch

Gameloft's revamped iPhone port of Shiny's classic 16-bit platformer Earthworm Jim is out now on iTunes, on offer "for a Limited Time Only!" at a launch price of $4.99.

Groovy!

The port contains lovingly redrawn graphics and a remastered soundtrack, plus the ability to play tracks from your own music library should the latter somehow offend you. A downloadable release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii has also been announced.

Nice it looks like the art is from the original source material and not color palette raped like the SNES & Genesis versions.

And for WinMo and Android phones? Do they know lots of people actually don't own an iPhone and would never do such a thing? I'd like to see stuff like this ported to other platforms instead of pretending these customers don't exist.

Someone tell me how it plays on the iphone. I really don't like the "virtual buttons" but I may pick it up just because I was always a huge EWJ fan. I still have an EWJ action figure in a box somewhere.

XBLA version? Screw the iPhone version. The "virtual controls" never quite feel right to me on my iPhone. Considering some of the platforming aspects of the original I think my iPhone would be in danger of being thrown across the room.
