Free Batman DLC Brings Two New Maps Thursday

15
With the first batch of downloadable content for Batman: Arkham Asylum due out this Thursday, September 17, publisher Eidos today unveiled exactly what it will entail.

Available as a free download on all three platforms (PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360), the "Insane Night Map Pack" will bring two new challenge maps to Rocksteady's game.

The first new challenge room, "Totally Insane," sees players facing off against "scores of escaped lunatics" in close-quarters combat in the institution's record facility, with Eidos vowing that "these fast-moving foes will challenge all but the most practiced players."

The second, "Nocturnal Hunter," has players stealthily stalking foes from the shadows and "utilizing the Arkham watchtowers and Batman's arsenal of gadgets to gain the upper hand on The Joker's army of goons patrolling below."

No mention was made of the second batch of downloadable content, "Prey In The Darkness," that's apparently due the following week on Thursday, September 24.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

This is the way to go. A good HTPC is a must have these days. You can install a cheap, silent (no fan) HD4850 which plays most games great at 1080p and then get a good wireless combo like the Logitech Wireless Wave Pro. For console ports best played with a controller the 360 wireless adapter for PC lets you use any wireless 360 controller (wheel too) on your PC for the total package. I play all my games at 1080 instead of the junky no AA no AF blurry graphics 720p stuff on the consoles.

In the case of Batman: AA I just couldn't wait and got the 360 version which sports very good visuals that are very close to those on the PC.

I use the 360 wireless receiver for Windows w/ a wireless controller. I also use a program called XPadder to map the controller to mouse commands and keyboard shortcuts so I can basically control the PC from my couch. It's kinda clunky but it beats stretching wires all over the apartment.
