Diablo, Mythos Vets' Action RPG 'Torchlight' Gets Trailer, Release Date

Runic Games, formed from the team behind Flagship Studios' Mythos when the developer closed shop, has today announced that its PC singleplayer dungeon crawler Torchlight will be released for download on October 27 priced at $19.99.

A Diablo-style action RPG--trawling randomly-generated dungeons, bashing hordes of monsters for randomised loot--Torchlight also boasts pets, fishing and a level editor.

The Runic team includes such notable figures as Blizzard North co-founders Max and Erich Schaefer, Fate creator Travis Baldree, and Diablo series composer Matt Uelmen.

A Torchlight MMO is also in the works, slated to follow the singleplayer release. Click on through for a new trailer overflowing with monster-slaying action.

This is bad.
People speak foul of Diablo 3's graphics, but then they say "I'll pick this up on day one".

This looks several times worse than even World of Warcraft. I'm not going to play a pre-teen "hulk&smash" RPG.

Well, this will have to do while I wait another 9 years for DiabloIII
Hopefully Dungeon Seige3 and Titan Quest 2 will also be out sometime soon too.

Will this run fine on Windows7 64bit with 6GB of Ram? I ask becuase it will be my first time using 64bit windows, so I ask you all if there are gaming issues with 64bit, and more than 4GB of ram?

Although it's obviously a Diablo-style game, I was pleasantly surprised it does seem to have a different feel from Diablo 3. Especially considering two of the main designers of Diablo 1 and 2 are working on it. Great price, and it's coming out this year!

I beta'd Mythos for about a month and found myself enjoying it where I thought I'd be bored quickly. Might have been the crafting mechanism, or the skill trees which diversified each class...either way, I can't see myself getting too upset about 20 dollars should this game be terrible. Simple hack n' slash is exactly what I need while in school.

It seems just like Fate with updated graphics, or single-player Mythos. Which is not necessarily bad, but I'm wary. Fate felt like an awesome skeleton for a better game. If the development energy went into depth and content then we might have that game. But if instead it's Fate rehashed with cool 3d graphics... then no me gusta.
