Assassin's Creed 2 Gameplay Montage: Gettin' Down in Da Vinci Land
by Nick Breckon, Sep 03, 2009 6:08pm PDT"Ezio is like the Cadillac of Renaissance warriors," the developer said. Johnson's eyes widened. His lip quivered. He was on to something big. As he opened his mouth, his finger extended for emphasis, James, as usual, calmly stole his idea: "I've got it. We'll use the music from an actual Cadillac commercial!"

Looks a little like instead of thinking of a new game for an entirely new culture, timeperiod, technology level and way of thought, they've stretched primitive game mechanics from a comparatively primitive time to 'fit' the new. I'd have appreciated the gameplay actually altering into something more involved in disguise, technology and social manipulation, rather than a content-expansion sequel that reskins and expands the exact same gameplay.
A lone killer jumping rooves and ghosting through the alleys of cities in a state of tyranny, war-time depression and martial law, witnessing mass-oppression of a people and frequent violence in an atmosphere or religious fanaticism - that felt right.
A psychotic killer in puffed sleeves with rouged cheeks shining his leather riding boots similarly sneaking across rooftops in a prosporous, relatively modern city setting seems overly barbaric, and an inefficient method for an assassin whatever the changes in the organisation across hundreds of years.

For those complaining about the music, it's not that new for them. Here is the trailer for the first Assassin's Creed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcaSVvsFauQ Personally, i think it works well.

but then, I'd love to hear Manson in Dragon Age, too. Guess I'm too bored of the same kind of "cinematic" music style being used for the gazillioned time.
Even rocky had a montage...montage
