World of Warcraft Launches Paid Faction Changes

What I still find amusing is this is yet another thing Blizzard said they'd never do.

I can't complain about the fee. First of all it will make them money, which is good. Second, it will keep people from switching their factions and (eventually) races like it was a respec. There has to be some sort of barrier to constantly switching characters around, beyond the coded limitations regarding bank vaults, etc.

I guess this also keeps the account sellers to a dull roar. They can't just deliver a character to the realm of choice without some cost of their own, which of course they would integrate into the purchase price.

Now comes the question... do I change from Orc Warlock to Undead Warlock? WoTF vs. stronger pet and Blood Fury. PVP vs. PVE... hmmmm...

Getting back to the expense, just remember that companies pay attention to divisions that make money. I don't want to get gouged, but WoW will only continue to thrive for as long as it puts black on the bottom line. The more profitable, the more resources will be put toward its development.

And it needs a little love. I polymorphed into a Gnome the other day, and let me tell you, those gnome hands look AWFUL. It's time for a character model touch-up.

Isn't this kind of silly? I thought there was supposed to be weight to the choices you made when you select a race/class.

I understand server transfers, but faction and race changes? I do understand from the perspective of a businessman, but as a gamer it seems completely silly.

Dunno, WoW is played out. Doing the same instance with 25 people for a 0.01% chance to get an item to drop and then go against people to roll for it or get raped with the whole dkp system is just a waste of time.

The game is the same shit over and over again.

I'd love to have an undead Priest, but my Draenei Priest is just to cool to abandon. Anyway this might be a good thing. Now all those annoying Alliance kiddies might go annoy some hordies! ;)

It may be $30 for the service, but the way most people *want* to use this feature (and in a way that I think is completely justified), it ends up coming out to over a hundred bucks of total cost. Their pricing scheme stinks.

When race change goes in I am going orc rogue to undead rogue even if it costs $100.

The EQ2 route of forcing the player to do an obnoxiously long faction change quest was a lot cooler IMO...though not as profitable I suppose.

As much as people see this as silly, i can see it from another point of view.

It takes ages to get to the max level (where the game really starts) and for a casual player like me that can mean quite a few months. Not to mention all that gear you get up there. To join a friend its suddenly a lot easier.

That being said, they are milking it a bit, but what i would like to see form this is free fraction changes to balance battle groups. No more ques!
