Square Makes WWII RTS Debut September 22
by Chris Faylor, Sep 02, 2009 2:33pm PDTPublisher Square Enix, best known for the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series, has dated its first World War II real-time strategy game for September 22 in North America.
Developed externally by Massive Assault veteran Wargaming.net, Order of War (PC) packs two single-player campaigns set in 1944, pitting American forces against their German counterparts in France and facing German forces against Soviets in Poland. A downloadable demo that samples an American mission can be found at FileShack.
Order of War is said to be part of Square Enix's recent "commitment to offer a broader variety of games across different genres," an initiative that has also seen the company pick up the publishing rights for Gas Powered Games' Supreme Commander 2.

Given it might be excellent, but it's such a hilarious change of pace for Square.
