Sonic & Knuckles & XBLA on September 9
by Nick Breckon, Aug 28, 2009 3:42pm PDTSega's classic expansion to Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, is hitting Xbox Live Arcade on September 9.
While Xbox 360 emulation takes the fun out of stacking expansion carts, Sega is including a few unlockables for the game, provided you own the XBLA ports of the first three Sonics.
Buying each of the previous games unlocks the following:
- Sonic the Hedgehog: Unlocks the game "Blue Sphere," the bonus/Chaos Emerald level from Sonic the Hedgehog 3
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Lets you play as Knuckles, complete with the ability to get to previously inaccessible areas of the game, and new power-ups added for playingas Knuckles
- Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Play as Knuckles in Sonic 3, and also changes the flow of the game and connects it directly to Sonic & Knuckles, so that you can play the two seamlessly!

That was kind of, sort of, one of the reasons people bought the game. It was sort of revolutionary to the series, and kinda something that most game developers sort of shied away from for various reasons. :l .... OH WELL
