N+ Dev Announces Top-down XBLA Racer 'Scrap Metal'

The developer of N+, Slick Entertainment, is bringing its XBLA expertise to another classic genre: the top-down racer.

Slick's Scrap Metal is set to boost the aged genre with modern physics and HD graphics. Addictive missions, challenging tracks, and old-school drifting are promised. The racer is set to hit Xbox Live Arcade in 2010. Check out the first screenshots above.

Looks like a mix of Twisted Metal, classic Offroad, Death Rally, and Midnight Club. I'm definitely curious.

Here's hoping we get something more along the lines of Rock N' Roll Racing & Racing Gears Advance rather than Full Auto.

Does nobody remember the greatest racing game ever? Rock N' Roll racing for Sega Genius. Now this looks just like it but graphics and what not are updated.

For those not in the know, Slick Entertainment did the port of N to N+, but were not the original people who designed/made the game. That would be Metanet Software. They're working on a new game called Robotology ( http://www.metanetsoftware.com/ ).

The article by Nick makes it seem like they're the same guys, which they're not.
