Some call it Jim. To others, Clacknor is the name. Summer Breeze is known to many. Some, Pepsi, yet others, Coke. The Fiery End My Friends Oh Indeed It Is THE END is used by some, but relatively few in all honesty. Bucket, Margarine, V8, Zap, Dave, Hugh, Pugh, Barney Mcgrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb are all its titles.

Me, I usually go with "Wednesday."

  • Work Rant - Shady Business Practice

So I do various online marketing things for my company at work and since I'm very good at what I do I like to back everything else so that we can meet our target CPA (Cost Per Acquisition). Unfortunately, about 1.5 months ago my company started taking all the phone numbers we collect from our website (online insurance quote engine) and started using a 3rd party telemarketing company to contact these leads almost as soon as they submit their information for a quote.

Long story short is that online sales are down by the same amount that call center sales are up. All for an added cost. Not only that but we jumped into that shady business practice of outbound telemarketing.

I wish I could sabotage it cause we spend on fortune on online advertising that works. It'd be one thing if they called a few hours after you quoted, but they call 5 minutes or sooner. Oh well, at least our sales are meeting projections.

Any shady business practices that your company does?
