IL-2 Sturmovik Dev Diary: Real-time Realism
by Nick Breckon, Aug 25, 2009 5:02pm PDTOn paper, this sounds like it could be one of the more boring developer diaries, but in reality it's just the opposite. Gaijin Entertainment went to extreme lengths to capture the sounds of actual airplanes for IL2-Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, the team leaving the safety of their cubicles for a dreary Russian airfield, armed only with a fluffy mic.
Birds of Prey arrives on September 15 in North America on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS.

Anyway, as a flight simmer, without the cash to keep a high maintenance PC running, I'm delighted they're bringing this game to consoles.
There's no reason why multiplayer flight simulations cannot be reborn on this console generation or the next.
But it's just not going to be any godmaned fun on simulation type settings with a thumbstick game controller.
